The two pie charts compare the percentage of British students, who knew more than one native languages, at a university in England between 2000 and 2010.

Overall, in both 2000 and 2010, almost student could speak one more language, some couldn’t speak any other languages whereas the other could speak even two other languages, but it accounted for minority percentage.

In 2000, it can be seen that 65% students could speak one more language. Spanish was the most popular language when it could be used by 30% students then French came after at 15% and just only 10% of students spoke Germen. The rest students spoke another language. Moreover, 20% of students couldn’t speak any other languages and the students who could speak two other languages accounted for the minor percentage at 15%.

In 2010, there were slightly changes among percentages of students using other languages. The percentage of students could speak one more language in 2010 was nearly three quarters of the total students and it increased 5% compared to the year 2000. It was because of the increase of 5% on each percentages of students spoke Spanish and another language whereas there is a decrease of 5% on percentage of students spoke French. The percentage of students spoke only German remained the same as in 2000. We also can see that the percentage of students who can spoke two other languages increased to 20% whereas the percentage of students who couldn’t speak any other languages decreased to only 10%.
