Hi, I've just finished describing this line graph. Hope you can check my writing and correct it if necessary.
The line graph illustrates the percentage of people aged 65 or more in Japan, Sweden and the USA between 1940 and 2040.
Overall, the rate of elderly people increases significantly in three nations over the period shown. It is predicted that Japan will experience a sharp rise in the proportion of the elderly.
Only 5% Japanese were in 65 or more age group compared to 9% and 7% in the USA and Sweden respectively in 1940. The figure for Japan then reduced and remained below 5% until 2000. By contrast, the percentage of the elder in the USA and Sweden saw a gradual rise and nearly reached 15% in the early 1990s.
The proportion of American and Japanese aged 65 and over will grow slightly whereas Sweden will have an opposite trend in the 2020s. By 2040, the percentage old people in the USA and Sweden is expected to reach 23% and 25% respectively while the figure for Japan will soar suddenly from only 10% to 27% % between 2030 and 2040.
