The chart displays the results of a questionnaire conducted in five different Australian cities about the purchasing and consumption of coffee and tea in the last month.

Overall, Australians purchased more instant coffee than fresh coffee in all the cities.

In terms of fresh coffee, Sydney is the city with the highest proportion of citizens who bought this product, about 44%, ten percentage points more than in Brisbane and Adelaide. Besides, Sydney is associated with the lowest share of residents buying instant coffee in the last month. In fact, the gap between instant and fresh coffee purchasing, which is around five percentage points or more in the other cities, is about 1% in Sydney.

The proportion of Australians who went to a cafe in the last month is associated with the highest percentages. Specifically, this share is higher in Melbourne, where is around 64%, and lower in Adelaide, below 50%. In fact, Adelaide is the only city where the proportion of residents who bought instant coffee in the last four weeks is higher than the one who went to a cafeteria.
