The graph below shows the number of overseas visitors to three different areas in a European country between 1987 and 2007.

The line graph illustrates the number of foreigners visiting three separate regions in a nation in Europe over a 20-year period.

Overall, it is clear that the figures for visitors in all three areas went up during the period shown. In addition, the number of tourists travelling to the lakes experienced the most significant change.

In 1987, the number of overseas visitors to the coast led the way with 40 thousand people. At the bottom position was the figure for the lakes, at 10 thousand tourists. At the same time, there were 20 thousand individuals travelled to the mountains. The period from 1987 to 2002 witnessed a dramatic rise of approximately 65 thousand people visiting the lakes whereas about 30 thousand tourists found the mountainous areas appealing. Meanwhile, the number of those who chose the coast as a travel destination stood at just over 60 thousand after a marginal drop to 35 thousand in 1992.

In the 6 final years, the numbers of foreigners went to the mountains and the coast maintain its upward streak and reached the high of 35 thousand and 75 thousand respectively. By contrast, the figure for the lakes swiftly fell to 50 thousand people.
