The bar charts provide data on the differences between the number of store, employee and the amount of market share (measured in percentage) of 5 biggest UK supermarket in September 2003.

Overall, Tesco not only owned most of the market stake but It was also the company which hired the biggest number of employees.

More specially, In spite of the least number of worker (46000) and the lowest rate of share, Morrison' store system absolutely dominated the total market. On another hand, an opposite picture happended to Tesco, although holding the highest share portion (26%) and employed most of the employees (200000), its store number was the smallest.

A similar pattern occurred between Asda and J. Sainsbury with relative figures of 460 stores include 17000 staff and 463 stores include 174000 staff respectively. In term of share percentage, their rates were similar with 17% for Asda and 16,2% for J.Sainbury. Sateway stayed fairly the same in both cases with being the fourth company of store owning and employment (254 stores, 117000 employees) as well as share portion (10%).
