IELTS Writing Task 1

The given pie charts illustrates the data about the amount of forests covered in five separate areas as well as their timber production.

Overall, it is obvious that although Africa region has the greatest amount of forests covered, their wood production is the least productive compared to other regions. Furthermore, South America and North America took more than half of the total timber.

As can be seen in the first pie chart, Africa’s forest coverage is the highest at exactly 27%, while Asia has the lowest level, accounting for just 14%. Standing at the second position on the list is North America, occupying a quarter of the world’s forests, followed by Europe and South America, with 18% and 16% corresponding.

Moving on to the second pie chart, North America forests provide (produce) the most wood in the world, contributing to a third of total worldwide output. On the other hand, timber production recorded in Africa which is the least, at only 9%. The figures for South America, Europe and Asia are 23%, 20% and 18% respectively.
