The given charts compares the number of international students and local students enrolling to universities in Australia from 2001 to 2010.
In overall, an upward trend can be seen in the number of enrolments in Australian universities taken by both national and international students.
There was a significant rise in the number of enrolments of overseas students over a 10-year period (2000 enrolments in 2001 to 8000 in 2010). This period also saw a rapid increase in the number of enrolments of Australian citizen students in universities in Australia. The commencing figure was 200000 in 2001 reached its highest point of approximately 600000 in 2007, then stayed stable over 3 years from 2007 to 2010.
In addition, It is obvious that there was a higher number of enrolments from students who living in Australia than students who coming from other countries. In 2010, an estimated 600000 enrolments of local students compared with only 8000 enrolments of overseas students ./.
