The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002.

The table compares the consumer spending for the three categories of products and services in five different countries in 2002.

Overall, the highest proportion of consumer spending in each country went on food, drinks, and tobacco. On the other hand, the leisure and education category has the lowest percentages in the table.

It is clear that the consumer expenditure on food, drink, and tobacco was significantly higher in Turkey and Ireland, at 32.14 % and nearly 29% respectively. In addition, the percentage of spending on leisure and education was the highest in Turkey, at 4.35%, while in Italy spending on clothing and footwear was significantly higher than in the other countries.

As can be seen, people in Sweden paid the lowest attention to food/drinks/tobacco and clothing/footwear, with 15,77% and just over 5% respectively. Meanwhile, Spain had slightly higher figures for these categories, but the lowest figure for leisure and education, with only 1.98%.
