The line graph illustrates the eighty-year transformations from 1920 to 2000 of the birth rates in two different countries, China and the USA.
Overall, both countries’ birth rates had downward trends after approximately a century. In addition, the incidences of birth in those two regions fluctuated dramatically between 1920 and 1950.
The birth rate figures in China swung significantly in more than 20 years. Furthermore, it was the year 1940 that the data decreased from 10% to 5%. However, after that, the average number of children that were born broke the record with 20%, 10% higher than the beginning. The rates went down considerably until 2000 with about 3% of children to which were given birth. Meanwhile, the initial fertility rates in the USA were approximately 1% higher than China ones at about 11%. The birth rate was under 5% in 1945, followed by a culmination with 15% in 1950. Finally, the percentages of childbearing in the United States of America saw a decline in the remaining years. Nevertheless, the final figures were still 4%, twice as much as Chinese figures. |
