The chart below shows how global sales of the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013.

The bar chart gives information on how many mobile phones were sold worldwide by the five most popular brands in the year 2009, 2011 and 2013.

It is clear that while the sales of Samsung and Apple experienced an upward trend, the opposite was true for three-given brands. Also, both Samsung and Nokia were the most popular brand for most of the period.

As can be seen from the chart, the number of mobile phones sold by Samsung in 2009 standing at about 230 million units was just a half when compared with that of Nokia. However, in the next four years, the quantity of mobile phones sold by Samsung increased to 450 million units which was twice as many as that of Nokia in the same year.

Consider the remaining brands, in 2009 the sale of Apple which was only 25 million units was the lowest in comparison with LG and ZTE which were around 125 million units and 50 million units respectively, nevertheless, Apple overtook these two brands in 2011. By the year 2013, the sales of Apple reached 150 million units, whereas that of LG declined and the figure for ZTE rose slightly.
