The table lists the information on monthly expenses of an average Australian family in six different categories, namely (Food, Electricity and Water, Clothing, Housing, Transport, and Other goods and services) over the given period from 1991 to 2001. Monetary values are in Australian dollars (AU$).

Overall, the number of people in Australia spent more dollars on their Other goods and services in both years and food was in second. Electricity and Water, Housing increased slightly while consumption was least on clothes and transport decreased over time.

In detail, in 1991, food and housing had similar patterns during both years. Australian spent monthly 5 dollars more for food and housing in 1991 and 2001. Amounts for every type of consumed except for Electricity and Water increased 75 dollars from 1991 to 120 dollars in 2001. People were more interested in buying clothes 30 dollars in 1991 while after ten years people spent less time on clothes 20 dollars in 2001. Similarly, the expenditure people spent on transportation declined from 70 dollars in 1991 to 45 dollars in 2001 followed by Other goods and services accounted for 250 dollars and 270 dollars, respectively.
