The bar chart illustrates the most prevalent types of films for both genders in America, whilst the pie chart demonstrates the percentages of ticket sales of each genres of film in the same country in 2010.
Overall, the most pronounced observation was that the most two popular types of films were action and comedy. In addition, while action movies were most watched by men, romantic comedy was preferred by the majority of people.
In detail, 48 percent of the box-office takings was from action movies, which were watched by 40 percent of men, and about one third of the tickets sales was from comedy. Romantic comedy just accounted for 12 percent of total sales, followed by thriller, with 10 percent. The rest 5 percent was of genres not mentioned in the pie chart.
According to the bar chart, it is clearly seen that comedy and western had the same proportion of men and women watching, with 20 percent and 10 percent respectively. Following that, both thriller and science fiction were preferred more by men, since both the percentage of men in two categories were higher than that of women 10 percent.
