The line graph indicates the percentage of 65-year-old and older residents in Japan, Sweden and the USA in a century

As can be seen, all three line segments follow an upward trend. However, Japan's feature seems to be lowest among all.

In the first 55 years of the period, Sweden and the USA's figures experienced the same trend. During the subsequent years, these two ones exchanges their positions and are expected to witness a considerable rise to their own peak in 2040.

In1985, the percentage of Japanese ageing population began to recover gradually after a slow decrease during the first 50 years. The figure for Japan in 2030 is calculated to dramatically climb to 25%, but later slow down its pace to peak at 27% in 2040.
