IELTS WRITING TASK 1

The pie charts compare the percentage of sales in four retail sectors: travel, film and music, books and clothes in New Zealand in 2003 and 2013.


Generally speaking, in 2003 the travel sales' percentage was the largest of all five sectors. It experienced a slight fluctuation and was replaced by the online sales of films and musics in 2013. Except for the percentage of books sales on the web, the other sectors saw an increase in this 10-year period of time.


In 2003, the rates for online sales of travel and clothes were the two prominent in New Zealand, 36% and 24%, respectively. Both sectors experienced dramatic reduction in these 10 years and reached 29% and 16% in 2013. Film and music's online sales became more popular among New Zealanders and was ranked the first largest percentage of online sales in 2013. The sales percentage of books did not change noticeably in this time span and rose by 3% and reached 22% in 2013.
