Ielts writing task 1

The bar chart illustrates how people from three income groups spent money on fast food, namely hamburger, fish and chips and pizza in the UK in 1990.

Overall, most money was spent on hamburger. In addition, the amount of money allocated for three types of fast food declined as the income decreased.

The high income group accounted for the highest expenditure of fast food. People of this group spent about 43, 17 and 19 pence for hamburger, chips and fish and pizza respectively. In average income group, hamburger was also the most popular choice like the former group, at around 32 pence, followed by fish and chips(25 pence) and pizza( approximately 12 pence).

The least spending fell into the low income category. In this category, consumers spent more money on fish and chips( nearly 17 pence) than the other two types of food. Hamburger came a close second, at roughly 14 pence, followed by pizza( over 5 pence).
