Ielts Writing task 1

The figure illustrates how much carbon dioxide were released in metric tonnes each person in the UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal in 40-year-period from 1967. Overal, there was a downward trend in carbon dioxide emissions in the UK and Sweden, which was opposite with Italy and Portugal.

It is clear that the amount of carbon dioxide emissions in Sweden peaked at over 10 metric tonnes and dropped dramatically by approximately 5 metric tonnes. Besides that, average carbon dioxide emissions in the UK went down slightly, which was 4 metric tonnes less during 40 years.

On the other hand, the average carbon dioxide emissions in Italy increased from over 4 metric tonnes to over 7 metric tonnes between 1967 to 2007. Portugal had same trend with Italy, which was less than 2 metric tonnes in 40 years in comparion with Italy. Although, the average carbon dioxide emissions in Portugal reached the highest point at over 5 metric tonnes, this number was the lowest of carbon dioxide emissions in Sweden in 2007.
