ANSWER

The bar chart illustrates the number of British citizens who emigrated to five destinations over the period 2004 to 2007.

Overall, it is clear from the graph that throughout the period, Australia was the most popular place to move to.

In 2004, the number of people who emigrated to Australia was nearly 42,000, which was 6,000 higher than the figure for Spain and approximately doubled the figure for the other countries. Despite a minor drop in the next year, the figure reached a peak of over 50,000 in 2006 before reducing to about 43,000 in 2007. However, it remained far higher than the other countries.

Spain witnessed a gradual decrease in the number of emigrants through the period, from nearly 35,000 in 2004 to the low of 30,000 in 2007, a reduction of about 6,000 persons in three years. While about 20,000 British people chose New Zealand to live each year, the same figure was recorded in the USA in both the years 2005 and 2007 and a bit higher figure in the other years. France saw a significant fluctuation, the numbers sharply increased from nearly 20,000 to over 32,000 in 2005 and finished at 18,000 in 2007. It was, therefore, the least popular destination among five countries at the end of the period.
