The bar chart illustrates the percentages of families which have one child in Chinese cities, outskirts and rural areas during the period of 20 years. Overall, it is clear tat the proportion of those families rose in each researched region over the shown period of time; meanwhile, this figure for the countryside was by far the lowest. By the year of 1980, a half of cities was single – child families, compared with 40% of that in urbans and a minority in the rural places. After 10 years, there was a dramatical increase in the percentage of those families in cities, which reach a peak at approximately 95%. At the same time, this data in the outskirts and countrysides reached at 70% and 20% respectively. In the last year of the examined period, the figure for one – kid families in each region continued rising. Nearly 100% families in the cities and approximately 97% those in the urbans had one kid while there was a sharply climb in this proportion in rural areas, with a jump of around 40%, at about 70%
