The line graph illustrates the fluctuations of fresh fruits and vegetables, sugars and sweets, and carbonated drinks prices during the 1978- 2009 period.
Overall, there was an increase of prices in the three different food product groups, despite of fluctuation. In the 29 year period, only prices for fruits and vegetables were significantly higher than the consumer-price index.
Except nine first years, from 1978 to 1987, during the rest period, the costs of sugars and sweets and carbonated drinks were slightly lower than CPI. Prices for carbonated drinks steadily rose form about 70 in 1979 to over 150- a doubled number in 2009. Meanwhile, the prices of sugars and sweets tripled approximately from 70 in 1979 to exactly 200 in 2009.
In addition, the graph witness a dramatically changes of fresh fruits and vegetables cots. It reached the highest point in 2009 at about 325. And this number was also the highest index among these other prices of food product groups.
