Ielts writing- Evironmental damage.

Environmental damage is always a head-aching problem with all the nations in the world. It is considered by some that the governments should tackle the environmental loss. Meanwhile, others think that it should be an individual responsibility. From my point of view, both the governments and individuals have to grapple this issue.

On the one hand, there are many people who believe that governments should take charge of decreasing global environmental damage. It is true that the governments could exert huge impacts on environmental problems. Firstly, they could enforce law or tax to protect the nature. For instance, they could force companies to use renewable energies, such as wind power or solar power instead of fuel energy or the companies who release sewage non-treated directly to lakes or the ocean should be seriously punished. These activities might restrict the exhaustion of the earth’s natural resources and protect the environment from being polluted. Secondly, the governments could negotiate other countries about an environmental convention that defines particular regulations about the protection of the environment. Therefore, national efforts might be ensured in reducing environmental damages worldwide.

On the other hand, it is thought by some that environmental loss should be tackled by individuals. In fact, the awareness of inhabitants play key roles in reducing environmental problems. Everyone could save the planet by very simple activities, such as minimizing fuel and electricity. For example, turning off all unnecessary electrical equipments helps to save more energy and curb the massive exploitation of nonrenewable power. Moreover, people could move by public transports instead of driving their own car to minimize the amount of gas emission released by vehicles which is the main reason for air pollution. Every good activity will have positive influences on nature and together, we can limit environmental damage.

In conclusion, as individuals, we could contribute by step to reduce environmental damage. However, the government’s efforts would be better to exert global influences on the environment.
