IELTS writing
If my IELTS writing task 1/2 scored band 1 or 2 (answer is completely unrelated to the task/answer is barely related to the task), do examiners still give score for my vocabulary, coherence & cohesion, and grammar? or the whole answer is Band 1/2?
Please clarify this as I don't find anywhere about this.

According to everything I have read on the subject, the 4 measures are independent, and the overall band score is the average of the four scores. However, if the task requires you to write about the merits of taking a gap year after high school, and you write about the advantages and disadvantages of social media, the vocabulary score may be very low because you have not used vocabulary appropriate for the task.
