In the modern-day world, it has become ubiquitous for students to study overseas after graduating high school to get a university degree whereas it wasn’t really possible in the last decades when scholars prefered learning in the local areas to going abroad. While studying in a foreign country can provide more opportunities for learners, it may pose some drawbacks.

First of all, studying abroad can be life-changing for students with a plethora of benefits assisting people pursue their own target and expands an individual’s horizons. Likewise, it helps students develop personal chances in various ways: learners are facilitated to approach international education with modern curriculums, meet and cooperate with people from different cultures, learn to be independent in unfamiliar land, and so on. Hence, their life skills and knowledge are ameliorated. Moreover, it is exposed that people with a foreign university qualification have access to more and better job opportunities .

On the other hand, studying abroad has its own cons. Firstly, besides studying hard, students from middle or low income families have to work in order to pay the bills. It is caused by the exorbitant living standard and the imbalance between currency. For instance, it only costs 30.000 VND for a lunch in Vietnam, but in Japan, it's 6 times more expensive. Therefore, students having a shoestring budget have to devote more time to do part-time jobs to afford the expense which may lead to a decline in the quality of learning. Last but not least, after completing their studies, an array of experts and professors are enamored by high salaries and better health care in foreign countries so they decide to reside there. In this way, many developing and underdeveloped countries lose valuable human resources.

Taking everything into account, studying abroad has become a tendency due to international integration and modernisation. However, an individual needs to take this trend carefully into consideration before making a decision whether to study overseas or not.
