IELTS WIRITNG TASK 2 - EXTRA ACTIVITIES (STUDENTS)

Full-time students should take a lot of time to study, but it is also essential to be involved in other activities, what extent do you agree or disagree?

Answer:

In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards students spending more time on extra activities apart from studying due to its substantial impacts on them. Although the idea that students should pay most of their attention to study appears reasonable, this cannot be viewed as an ultimate approach to bring most advantages to them.

There are a number of reasons why studying is not the only method to benefit students. First, school study could only bring to students knowledge from books or academic materials, which would not enough to meet their future job requirements. In fact, students who never work or join extra activities between schools are susceptible to culture shocks when they start working in the real world. This leads to the requirement that student should take time to join extra activities in order to gain social knowledge, especially behavior style. For example, students who are in clubs, groups or extra organizations during schools usually act more confident than others in social life.

Another compelling reason for joining activities not reliant to study is that they provide competitive abilities for students in the future labor market. By participating these activities, students have opportunities to learn and practice needed skills for the future career. For example in an interview, if you show a useful skill, such as public speaking, that others do not, you will impress interviewers, then increase the proportion of being hired. In addition, you also build your social networking through extra activities, which supports a lot to your job and individual life.

In conclusion, extra activities should be regarded as one of main ways to benefit students besides study.
