Some people claim that there are more disadvantages of the car than its advantages. Do you agree or disagree? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having a car.
------
Nowadays, despite the fact that public transportation has increased in comparison to the last decade, the number of personal cars is increasing significantly. We use cars for different purposes, for example traveling from one city to another. Although we can use public transportation such as buses, trains, or airplanes, many people prefer traveling in their car since they found it more comfortable. However, owning a car has many advantages and disadvantages that I am going to discuss them.
I will start by looking at the benefits of owning a car. One of the main advantages of having a car is it is a more convenient way of traveling. It’s obvious that cars have more comfortable seats than buses or trains. Also, you can stop anywhere beside the road to enjoy the scenery or take a rest. In other words, you have more freedom on deciding the schedule to reach your destination.
In addition, you don’t need to wait for anyone especially when you are in a hurry. For instance, suppose you have an appointment, you are late, and there is no taxi near to your location. This could be one of the situations you wish you had your own car.
On the other hand, having a personal car has some downsides. These days, many people are deciding to buy their car and the number of cars in cities are increasing significantly. As a result, the traffic jam will rise and you have to spend much more time to reach your destination, even you have to spend hours to find a car park.
Another main issue is that it is expensive and beside the cost of buying a car, it requires additional costs for preparing fuel, maintaining, and repairing.
Having looked at both sides, owning a car has both positives and negatives. While you will be more comfortable by traveling with your car, inside the city you have to spend a great amount of your useful time in the traffic jam. By the way, In my opinion, if you can afford the expenses of a car, it would be a good idea to have your personal car for traveling between cities and emergencies, however you can use the public transportation for your daily chores.
Many Thanks
