IELTS TASK 2_Please help me correct

I would be grateful if you guys could comment on this essay so that I can improve my writing skills for the IELTS test. Thank you very much

Topic: The computer is widely used in education and some people think that teachers will not play important roles in the classroom. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

My essay:

In this world of technology, computers have been favoured by more and more educators and teachers as a key component of a perfect educational environment. Although it is a positive development, the issue as to whether it takes place of teachers in the classroom has sparked controversy. In my opinion, the instrument role of teachers could never be replaced by computers.

Firstly, it is undeniable that computers fail to interact with students. In other words, computers are incapable of disciplining students and failing to attend to student’s emotional needs, making this model of teaching not as competent as the traditional style. For example, students’ unexpected, potentially exceptional, and distinguished performance is not recognised by computers. Therefore, students are conditioned to absorb information without questioning and given no chance to express their personal opinions.

Secondly, another problem that should be taken into account is that computers lack flexibility. Notwithstanding great benefits of technology in education, the computer programme is limited, its teaching is uniform, repetitive, standardised and therefore unsuited to the specific needs of students. For instance, it can only answer questions which have been programmed into it but fails to answer unusual, non-standard, and unprecedented questions. By contrast, a human teacher is able to respond flexibly with giving well-tailored, persuasive and inspiring answers. In simple terms, a computer hardly functions as effectively as a human teacher does.

Base on above-mentioned arguments, not only do computers fail to communicate with students but also operate inflexibly, albeit generally beneficial. For this reason, the computer can only serve as a teaching aid, facilitating students’ interest in a topic and assisting them to take information, rather than taking the place of teachers in the classroom.
