IELTS TASK 2 - WORKING AND STUDYING FROM HOME

Hi, it's been a long time since I stopped practising writing an IELTS essay, so I think it would be wonderful to get some feedback from teachers here. Thank you very much.

Around the world, many adults are working from home, and more children are beginning to study from home because technology has become cheaper and more accessible.

Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

These days have seen an explosion in the number of adults working from home and students studying from home due to the prices of electronic devices becoming much more affordable than before. Despite some negative sequences, this trend, in my view, still should be viewed as a positive one in the long run.
Unsurprisingly, some people foresee an exceedingly unhealthy dependence on technology, thus suggesting that the social skills of today and future generations could be heavily damaged. Glueing their eyes to the screen during work or study means shutting themselves off the real world for a considerable amount of time, which takes a toll on both physical and mental health.
Nevertheless, remote working and distance learning have been creating new advantages that outshine the abovementioned setbacks. On a large scale, white-collar workers do not need to travel to work anymore, and neither do pupils. Consequently, the carbon footprint will be noticeably cut down. One cannot forget that during the Covid 19 Pandemic, it is recorded that the ozone layer has recovered to a greater extent than ever before, owing to the limited use of transportation. On a smaller scale, the aforementioned trend also forced individuals from employers to employees, teachers to students, and organizations such as companies and institutions to constantly adapt to the new world where today's technology could be easily altered by tomorrow's. To form the problem-solving skill utilising technology, to form the way to think as a digital citizen in a digital world, the trend of working and studying at home is an initial but vital stage.
All in all, while too much dependence on computers and phones is concerning, it is not by any means impending doom. If anything, the trend is a wonderful door leading us to many opportunities waiting ahead.
