Some people think that it is best to live in a horizontal city while others think of a vertical city. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Some believe that it is well-advised to settle in a horizontal city. The opponents of this idea, myself included, argue for dwelling in a city with skyscrapers and high –rise buildings because of its overwhelming benefits.

On the one hand, there are two main reasons why several people embrace horizontal living. First, based on safety grounds, a number of residents choose to live in a horizontal city. For example, in case of emergency would occur such as fire, terrotism.., it is easier for people to escape from the dangerous areas if the building is not too high off the ground. Second, people have greater control over their properties, therefore enjoying much more freedom. They can modify the house in their own way without having to follow regulation imposed by building managers or landlords.

On the other hand, it is, however, a better choice for a switch toward vertical living. Given skyscrapers abilities is accommodate a large number of people, especially in densely- populated areas, meaning that more spaces are available for public usage. As a result, city planners would be able to use this land to build hospital, schools or recreational centers in order to meet the growing demands of the burgeoning population. Furthermore, it is much more convenient for residents in a high-rise apartment which offer a wide range of goods and services on the lower floor. They can easily access the shopping mall or entertainment in the same building block and this spared them from unnecessary daily travel.

Some people cite security and freedom as the main reasons to opt for horizontal life. Although these reasons are justified to some extent, horizontal city pales in comparison with vertical developments out of their given benefits to modern lifestyles.
