Some people think that studying from the past teaches us nothing about today's life. Other argue that the history is a value source of information. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In contemporary society, there are many noticeable events occuring on a daily basis. While it can be argued that it is useless for the public to study previous events, I believe that the history still have a role to play.

On the one hand, there are those who claim that things happened in the past do not have any impacts on our lives. First, unprecedented problems are more prevailing than before. People are facing serious problems such as global warming and environmental pollution, therefore, information from the past cannot help us to deal with these problems or at least mitigate them. Instead, people are constantly finding out viable solutions to tackle the problems. Second, the history may not help us to keep up with the fast-changing world. Admittedly, our modern lives are significantly innovating, which encourages people to learn new things not to step back to the world.

On the other hand, I side with those who assert that the history still plays a crucial role in our lives. People want to have a deeper understanding into their roots and cultural values of their country. Undoubtedly, history is one the most favourite subjects in schools because students are able to be conscious of what is existing until today and comprehend the development of human beings through historical events, which gives students an all-round education. Take my brother for example. He is a history teacher who is keen on travelling to traditional villages to learn valuable things from the past. After every trip, he gains in-depth knowledge and knows the similarities and differences of each region. Such knowledge has become a source of information on classes, which makes his lessons more interesting and appealling to students.

In conclusion, although it is true that the history is not useful to our today's lives, I believe that information from the past gives us benefits.
