Convenience foods will become increasingly prevalent and eventually replace traditional foods and traditional methods of food preparation.

To what extend do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

In recent years, fast food has been becoming increasingly popular. Although some people believe that this type of food will soon put traditional foods into extinction, I would argue that traditional foods and their cooking methods will remain sustainably.

On the one hand, those who support convenience foods might argue that these modern foods can give them more time to enjoy life. This is because when they choose to buy fast food, they will not need to spend time for cooking; consequently they can use this time for other activities. For example, businessmen who are extremely busy with their tight schedule would eat a burger for lunch, which takes them fifteen minutes only. In contrast, if people choose to spend hours to cook for themselves and families members, they will not have time to relax. As a result, they can face with negative impacts to their health.

On the other hand, my view is that traditional foods and traditional methods of cooking will not be wiped out by modern foods because they are a better choice to maintain human health. The reason for this is that traditional cooking aims to keep food to be fresh as much as possible; and it can adjust the amount of ingredients to produce the best suited taste to our own favors. For instance, a Vietnamese meal often has a perfect proportion of vegetable, meat and rice that provide us sufficient nutrients for daily life. However, if people preferred to eat convenience food, it could bring health issues due to the loss of vital nutrients during industrial processes.

In conclusion, while some people believe that convenience foods can take over the position of traditional food regarding to time saving aspect, it is my firm belief that traditional cooking and traditional foods will exist because this is a healthy eating habit.
