In many countries, people like to eat a wider variety of food than can be grown in
their local area. As a result, much of the food people eat today has to come from
other regions. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the
disadvantages?

In several parts of the world, there is a growing demand for exotic food; consequently, currently, the majority of food consumed is imported from other regions. Despite there is a sheer number of significant benefits related to this tendency, I hold the opinion that its demerits overwhelm its merits.
On the one hand, eating food produced in other places brings some advantages. The foremost is that consumers can have a chance to eat distinguish delicious food that is hard to plant locally. To illustrate, the primary ingredient of sushi dishes that are one of the most widespread meals in Viet Nam is salmon mostly imported from Japan. In addition, consuming exotic food can provide more job opportunities, which leads to a decrease in the unemployment rate. This means that a mounting number of people are employed to meet the increasing demand for transporting the kind of food.
On the other hand, opponents of this trend argue that eating food from other places has more far-reaching and detrimental impacts. First of all, the consumption of exotic food has a negative influence on the environment. This is because food transport increases remarkably food miles, resulting in greenhouse effects, climate change and the destruction of the ecosystem. As well as this, the price of exotic food is much more prohibitive than local produce. To be more specific, consumers have to pay a huge sum of money for the fee of long-distance shipment when they order the exotic food.
In conclusion, all things considered, although eating food from other regions have several benefits, I personally believe that its disadvantages are much more significant as it damages the environment and is extremely costly.
