More and more people in the city live in homes with small spaces or no outdoor areas. Do you think it is a negative or positive development ?

These days, a mounting number of urban dwellers live in cramped and uncomfortable properties without open-air spaces. While some individuals believe that such a tendency has certain merits, I believe that this trend is largely negative.
On the one hand, there are several benefits of living in a small home without surrounding areas. First of all, by living in a limited space, homeowners can save a great amount of time. This is because they are less likely to expense numerous hours on household chores so that they have more free time to unwind and do leisure activities. In addition, urban inhabitants settling in these homes can set more money aside than those living in open spaces. To be more specific, they can reduce their expenditure on cooling, heating and home maintenance monthly.
On the other hand, I believe that residing in cramped and inconvenient properties contributes to health risks and privacy issues. The foremost is that citizens in these homes can find it difficult to participate in outdoor activities as there are no surrounding areas. This leads to a sedentary lifestyle of urban dwellers; therefore, they might be at the risk of serious diseases such as obesity, diabetes and heart attack. As well as this, urban inhabitants seem to face the loss of privacy when living in small spaces, which have a negative effect on their well-being. To be more specific, children who live in these homes would be unable to do their homework since there are no quiet and private places, as a result, this might deteriorate the development of them.
In conclusion, all things considered, although living in cramped areas brings some merits, in my opinion, its demerits are much more significant. Because it has a detrimental impact on owners’ health and the invasion of privacy.
