Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

People have different views about why they should learn a foreign language. Although those who support that the purpose of learning another language is to travel or get a job in a foreign country, I firmly believe that there are several other reasons to learn a foreign language.

It is true that understanding foreign languages is a compulsory factor to be associated with foreign groups around the world. Thanks for having knowledge about foreign languages, visitors are able to communicate with local residents. For example, tourists need to make numerous conversations to ask for direction when they tour a foreign country. Furthermore, the capacity of comprehending foreign languages plays a crucial role in applying for a job or getting a promotion in overseas companies. With the ability of expression in other languages, workers can connect with co-workers, convey their ideas and feelings, which helps them integrate into the working environment.

On the other hand, there are various other causes of why people opt for learning other languages. Firstly, some people need a language certificate to graduate or get a fund. For instance, in Viet Nam, undergraduates must have a certificate to complete their curriculums and receive additional job opportunities. Secondly, a number of people who learn a second language increase day by day, which results in the aspiration of the broadening the horizon. They might scarify many hours for researching foreign documentaries that allow them to improve their cognition.

In conclusion, even though, most people choose to learn other languages to travel or employ abroad, I argue that they also have other reasons to learn a language.
