Some people say music is a good way of bring people of different cultures and ages together.

To what extent do agree or disagree with this opinion

It is said that music is used as a bridge linking people across the world no matter what cultures are or how old people are. Music, in my opinion, is likely a lingua franca helping individuals share ideas and messages to the whole world.

Each culture has its own characteristics. Supposedly, music plays a part containing fully norms, perceptions of a culture. Tradition songs can reflect habits of an ethnic. With those traditional lyrics and melodies, exotic people are able to have more understanding about a culture despite differences of languages and perspectives. This, thus, opens chances for conversations to gain more mutual understanding. In other words, music is referred to a common language that connects individuals together at the first place.

Melody of a song exhibits the feeling or even the attitude toward a matter. Earth song, for instance, is a famous song of Michael Jackson, which shares the fact that human are destroying nature. Although the lyric is written in English, its devastating melody drives people in different nations pay attention to what we have done to our beloved planet. There is no need to understand a particular language to understand a song's melody. Hence, a song's message can be conveyed to each individual, thereby, every communities are joined in order to deal with common issues.

Music shows the tendencies as well. Each age has its own genre of music. Young people are inclined to listen to pop music. Quite the opposite, the elder tend to listen to songs telling history which illustrate lives they have experienced. Through music, generations are possible to know each other better. The more they listen to various kinds of music, the more they can share the same positions in many issues.

As suggested above, one can see that music is able to connect not only people of different races but also different generations via either melodies or lyrics.
