Nowadays, it is true that a huge number of university students live with their families, while others are forced to live away from home to pursue their study. There are both advantages and disadvantages of each situation.
To begin with, living with families may prove to be both beneficial and disadvantageous to university students. On the one hand, they can gain benefits from enjoying family support both mentally and physically. Indeed, they are surrounded with love, care and great consideration from family members, along with the availability of free accommodation and facilities such as heating systems or air purifiers. On the other hand, the drawback of this situation may lie in the disruptiveness of family routine that would prevent the young from fully concentrating on their studies. As a result, their work efficiency would drop significantly, affecting academic achievements as well as the ability to keep up with friends.
In another case, when youngsters choose to live far from home to go to universities, there are also advantages to be taken and hurdles to encounter. First, it is undeniable that this is a golden opportunity for them to live independently and prepare for adulthood. As a matter of fact, young people cannot always rely on their parents forever- they have to make their own decisions and cater for themselves in the threshold of maturity. Nevertheless, students may face challenges in terms of mental health like loneliness.Comprehensibly, living far away might be surprisingly difficult since it is not easy to seek consolation, advice and support from their flesh and blood. Consequently, they may at times struggle to overcome pressure resulted from enormous workload and competitiveness at their educational institutions without anyone to confide in.
In conclusion, it seems evident that both circumstances of whether or not the young live with their families when it comes to higher education have upsides and downsides in their own ways.
