IELTS TASK 2: EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY

Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology. In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships that people make? Has this been a positive or negative development?

In recent studies, there has been a potential bias towards technology in term of communication. It is reasonable to admit that impacts of cutting-edge devices are on the growth and they plays a crucial part in building up types of relationships. While some sociologists have made arguments about whether technology is beneficial, I believe both positive and negative effects are presented in this concern.

Technology is obviously a valuable source in modern world since bounteous benefits have been offered. It is undeniable fact that friendship worldwide hardly meet any obstacles with the help of abundant online services. This results in culture interchange among individuals, as well as a stable bond among countries from various parts of the globe. Another assertion is the contribution to the range of knowledge. While communication used to be limited by means of written letters or telegrams, students find it easier to conduct assignments and projects with their peers through social networks, which could be considered as ideal platforms for boundless horizons.

On the other hand, drawbacks regarding technology have long been prominent concerns of society. Evidently, multinational companies’ operation mostly bases on ‘virtual’ services nowadays. For this reason, meetings in flesh have been shifting into video conferencing, which is generally associated with unsocial working hours and thin bandwidth. Degradation of stand the test of the time relationships is also a problem caused by state-of-the-art technology. Scarcely does millennials participate in activities with friends without bringing handphones along. This action discourages real interactions but creates isolation amid young people.

In conclusion, notwithstanding some advantages provided, downside effects of technology on relationships should be put into consideration. Measures aiming at balancing between using technology and working should, hence, be implemented.
