[IELTS Task 2] Education in rural areas

Topics: In developing countries, children in rural communities have less access to education. Some people believe that this problem can be solved by providing more schools and teachers, while others think that the problem can be solved by providing computers and Internet access.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is true that children in rural areas in developing countries barely have opportunities to get a proper education. One school of thought is that increasing the number of schools and teachers could resolve this issue, while others believe that installing more computers and Internet connection will be a more efficient way. This essay will discuss both views and indicate my personal opinion.

On one hand, computers and Internet can play a significant role in improving education quality in countryside communities for some reasons. Firstly, computers and global network serve as a limitless source of information, which could open to children a whole larger world of knowledge. With computer’s data-searching effectiveness and communicating efficiency, children can broaden their horizon in various and diverse fields such as science, technology, the environment and other countless needed areas. Wikipedia is a prime example of this view, where children could discover almost everything that they have questions about.

On another hand, many people think that building more schools and sending more teachers to rural regions are more beneficial for children who lack a qualified education system. It seems obvious that the increase in the number of educational institutions making schooling more affordable and convenient could encourage parents to send them to school and children to engage in academic courses. Furthermore, human reactions are vital in the efficiency of the learning process. This means that teachers have always played an undeniably crucial role in guiding and helping children make their academic goals come to fruition. For example, in the primary level, children just start to read, write or work with numbers and in this time period, everything could be much easier with the help of their teachers.

In conclusion, it seems possible that investing in computers with Internet connection can solve the educational problem for children in rural areas, I personally hold the perception that with more educational institutions and teachers, the problem will be more effectively dealt with.
