IELTS Task 2: Discuss the reasons why people define happiness differently and how to obtain it

Happiness is considered as the most wonderful universial feeling that individuals desire to achieve. However, the defination of happness varies significantly from one to another, which also raises a controversial question among the public about the methodology to be happy. In this essay a further discussion will be given to get the insight into that issue.

On the one hand, there are numerous reasons could be cited to explain the difference of the viewpoints about happiness. It is obvious that people in different life stages pursue difffernt interests and objects, which leads to the variation in the way individuals define happiness. For example, children have great passion for colorful toys, however, the desire might turn to amirable occupation as they become mature. Following the growth pace is the development of the intellectual capability and the attitude toward many social issues – the potential factors causing the change of happiness’s defination of children and adults. Beside age groups, personalities could also have great impacts on the opinions individuals hold about happiness. Due to different characters, people set various targets to achieve in life including jobs or relationships. Several people, for example, sacrifice lifetime for wealth while some people treasure family as the highest priority.

Considering the fact that individuals hold various views of happiness therefore there are numerous ways to attain it. First of all, people should take a great consideration in setting achieveable goals in order to avoid depression caused by too high expectation that is the main cause of unhappy life. Moreover, individuals should spend time on relaxing with family and taking care of health. Healthy lifestyles could not only reduce mental health-related problems caused by intensive pressure but also boost working productivity to get success in careers.

In conclusion, happiness varies dramatically among individuals for two main reasons including age groups and personalities. To enjoy better life, people should have clear defination of happiness and fight for it.
