Thanks in advance!

In many parts of the worlds, children and teenagers are committing more crimes. Why is this happening? How should they be punished?

It is true that there are increasingly juveniles who commit crimes in many places worldwide. There are two main reasons for the increase in the crime rate at young age and some methods of punishment should be taken to deal with this problem.

In my opinion, two main factors are to blame for the fact that young people nowadays are committing more crimes. First, children are influenced by bad information on the media. As shown in ABC report, nearly 50 percent of films or news on television is about violence or negative issues. Apparently, this information directly affects children’s behaviors and their views about society, and thus they are easy to break the law unconsciously. Second, modern parents tend to too lenient in educating their children. Many teenagers who are arrested by police for involving with gangs admit that they could do whatever they wanted.

The fact of increasing crimes committing by juveniles could be improved by taking some methods of punishing based on the severity of crimes. First of all, juveniles who commit petty crimes should be educated and isolated from the factors that lead to their crimes. For example, if children tell a lie, parents should talk to their children closely to find the causes and explain why they should not do that. Furthermore, some more severe punishments should be applied for dangerous juvenile offenders. Reform schools, for instance, are a popular method of punishing juvenile criminals in many countries. These institutions help to rehabilitate young former criminals and give them chances to reintegrate back into society.

In conclusion, the lenience in educate children of parents and negative effects from the media are the root causes of the crime rate at young age in many regions in the world. I think, young people who commit crimes should be pushed in various ways such as education, and rehabilitation.
