IELTS Task 2 - Air travel

Question: Air travel is a major consumer of the world's limited fuel supplies and creates very high levels of damaging pollution. Some people therefore believe that its use should be severely restricted.

To what extend do you agree or disagree?

Answer

With the development of science and technology, humans nowadays can move from place to place effortlessly with various types of vehicles, which include air transportation. It is a fact that air travel consumes the world’s limited energy resource, such as fuel supplies, and increase the proportion of damaging pollution. Due to this reason, some people believe that its use should be rigorously limited. In my opinion, air transportation should not be restricted because of its numerous valuable benefits.

It is undeniable that air conveyance has advanced human life to a new level. In the past, moving from place to place, especially over vast distances, has several unsolvable problems. For instance, sellers had their goods shipped overseas through vessels for months to reach their destination. After the invention of the airplane, solving these issues is complete and utter; simultaneously, it also brings plentiful benefits to human life, including reducing time-consuming problems and providing more opportunities for communication. Furthermore, scientists can use it as a tool for finding new resources of energy, which leads to help them solve the problem of the world’s limited fuel supplies.

On the contrary, sky travel and express create exceedingly high levels of air pollution. It is noticeable that one flight generates the same amount of contamination as the summarization of car drives in one year. Running on toxic fuel supplies, the pollution created by planes could damage the health of trees, animals, and humans hazardously.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that sky transportation should not be banned severely. Despite providing hazardous effects on the living environment, its notable use still can solve plenty of human problems. Otherwise, governments should also consider solving other disputes such as global warming.
