IELTS task 2 (about music)

Topic: Some people believe that music plays an important role in society, while others think that it only a form of entertainment for individuals.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

It is undeniable that music has become popular than before in our lives. While some people may argue that music just a form of entertainment, others believe that music plays an essential role in society. This essay will discuss both sides of the arguments in detail and provide information as to why music is vital to people.

From my perspective, the first and foremost reason why music is an important part of our lives is that music is fascinating and always helps people relax in a busy life. Most people lead a regular life and follow our daily routine day after day. In the long run, people may feel monotones and tedious in our jobs or schools. As a result, people have to take some proactive method to help them escape from their lives. By listening to music, people would relax and refresh their mind.

In addition, I disagree with the idea that music just a form of entertainment. In my view, music is not only a great pastime but also a useful and practical measure to help people learning. From my own experience, I usually get tired of learning the second foreign language. But since I began a habit of listening to music, I found it is quite easy to learn the second language because there is full of fun in my learning. From singing and reading lyrics, I can sharpen my pronunciation skills and increase my vocabulary. As a consequence, music is educational and entertaining materials for individuals.

In conclusion, I believe that music takes a huge part in our lives, not simply a form of entertainment.
