The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. Do you think the disadvantages outweigh the advantages?

With the explosion of the internet, social media became a powerful communication tool to exchange and share information, thoughts, and ideas across virtual networks. This essay will demonstrate with relevant support that the drawbacks of communicating through social media definitely out shadow the associated benefits since there is a wide variety of negative effects on users than face-to-face interaction.

To initiate the benefits of social media, it is irrefutable that people are becoming conscientious about the use of social media, especially after Covid-19 Pandemic. Because of social distancing, social media is the only way to stay connected and keep in touch with friends and relatives. Moreover, social media platforms are also a convenient tool to update news and connect with more interesting knowledges through online contents from companies or popular individual user.

On the other hand, the downsides of social media must be concerned. The unbridled freedom of social media are fueling feelings of anxiety, depression and isolation. Its approached many users from all ages, with the unattached of verbal violence through those platforms, there were many heartbreaking cases such as suicidal just because of violent words from unknow users on the internet. Besides that, people are tend to spend too much time to browsing social networks and compulsively check their phones in a day and its affect directly to health of users. Furthermore, many social media platforms have security loopholes, users will face with the risk of data breaches and malicious contents and malwares. Therefore, users must be prevent personnal datas from getting compromised.

In conclusion, there are several positives such as the connection tool that social media platforms can provide. However, the negatives should not be forgotten include unsuitable contents and steal personal informations danger.
