The table below shows the changes in some household types in Canada from 1984 to 2020.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The table presents the changes in percentage in one-person household, households of couples with no children, dependent children, and non-dependent children, and households with lone parent in Canada between 1984 and 2020.
The percentage of one-person household rose two fold between 1984 and 2020. While the households of couples did not have any significant changes in this period, households with lone parent had a sharp increase.
While the percentage of lone-parent household was six in 1984, it was twelve in 2020. Similarly, the lone parent household, whose share was just four in the overall percentage, reached twelve percent in 2020. There was a gradual increase in the household with no children. However, the households with dependent children had a more than ten percent decrease in 2020 from what it was in 1984. Nevertheless, the percentage of one-family household with non-dependent children did not have any remarkable rise or fall in this period. Remarkably there was no change in the percentage one-person household and lone-parent household between 2014 and 2020.
