Ielts task 1, thank you!

The 4 pie charts illustrate the population structures divided into 3 different age groups in Yemen and Italy with the predictions through 2050. In general, the population of the over 60 age group is predicted to go up while the youngest group is likely to witness a slight decrease in both countries.

More specifically, in 2000, more than half of the population in Yemen was in the age from 0 to 14 but it is projected to suddenly decrease to around 40% by 2050. In contrast, the 15-59 age group is estimated to account for the largest proportion of the population, at over 57%, although there was just around 45% of Yemen population in this middle age group in 2000. The oldest group represented the lowest percentage, at less than 4% in 2000 and there is likely just a small change by 2050.

Regarding the population in Italy, the middle age group had the highest percentage in 2000 and is forecast to remain in 2050 although the percentage decrease by over 10%. In 2050, it is predicted that the percentage of the over 60 will be at over two fifth, which is nearly twice more than in 2000. Moreover, the youngest population is forecast to decline slightly over this 50 year period.
