IELTS Task 1. Please review my writing. Thank you so much.

The table shows forested land in millions of hectares in different parts of the world.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The table gives information about the areas of forest in six different regions, Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America during a 15-year period, starting from 1990.

Overall, the amount of forested land in Europe was always highest while the figure for Oceania was always lowest among six zones. It is clear that while the figures for Africa, North America, Oceania, and South America decreased, those for Asia and Europe increased remarkably during the researched time.

In 1990, Europe and South America had 989 and 946 million hectares of forested area respectively. The quantity of tree-covered land in Africa and North America was quite lower, at 749 millions of hectares for the former and 708 millions of hectares for the latter. The figure for Asia was around half of that for Europe, at 576 million hectares while there were only 199 million hectares of land which is covered by forest in Oceania.

In the following 15 years, there was a significant drop of about 60 million hectares in the area of tree-cover land in Africa. In a similar way, the figure for South America witnessed a remarkable downward trend of approximately 70 million hectares. Those for North America and Oceania fell slightly to 705 and 197 million hectares respectively. On the contrary, Europe experienced a noticeable upward trend of about 10 million hectares in the amount of woody land. The quantity of forested region in Asia dropped to the lowest point of 570 million hectares in 2000 then rose swiftly to 584 millions of hectares in the next 5 years.
