The bar charts describe the proportion of youngsters at the age of 5 to 14 both genders who took part in several cultural and sporting activities in 2003 in Australia. At first glance, it seems that girls outnumbered boys in almost any extracurricular activities, except for playing musical instrument and sport.According to the first chart, the percentage of girls who participated in dancing activities stand out at a high of precisely 25%, which was 10 times larger than the same figure for boys. In contrast, when it comes to playing a musical instrument, boys tend to much more involved in this activity compared to girls, as the former accounted for about 15 percents while only 1 out of 10 female teenagers would engage in such activity. Moreover, activities like drama and singing saw a balance in the number of young volunteers, around 5% for both genders. The second chart shows that up to 3 out of 4 boys whose ages range from 5 to 14 would play sports in Australia, while only a half of girls at this age group would attend sport-related activities. This seems to make sense since boys tend to prefer joining muscular activities while their female counterparts are less interested in those activities.
