The given line graph provides the comparison of the birth rates in two countries namely China and the US over the period of 80 years.
Overall, it is obvious that the birth rates in both nations decreased from 1920 to 2000. In addition, although there was a similar in term of general decline, the American birth rates was surpass for most of the years in the period.
In 1920, the birth rate of the US was approximately 11%. However, this figure had flutuated around 10% until it hit the lowest point (at nearly 5%) in 1945. One year later, the US birth rates witnessed a recovery back to 15%, which was the highest point in the whole 80-year. Throughout the remainder of the period, the birth rates of US decline gradually to almost 7%.
Over the same period, the China birth rates varied more significantly than the US. In the first 15-year period, the birth rates in China flutuated between 10% and 15%, then hit its low at 5% and remained stable over the following 5 years. About 15 percentage was added in its figure by 1950. Though China’s birth rates had had a big leap, it experiend a steady fell for the rest of the period.
