There was a steady increase of 2007 in the average carbon dioxide emissions per person after 40 years ( from 1967 to 2007) in Italy and Portugal, stood at 7,9 metric tonnes and 5,6 metric tonnes. In contrast, the UK experienced a downward trend in the average carbon dioxide emissions per person, decreased to under 9 metric tonnes in 2007.
