IELTS Task 1

The pie charts compare the proportion of other used in agriculture, industry and households in different parts of the world namely: North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia and SouthEast Asia.

Overall, the greatest amount of water is used in agriculture in all mentioned parts of the world except for North America and Europe whose main water consumption is in Industry. However, domestic use accounts for the smallest percentages in Europe, North America and South East Asia.

The percentage of water used for agricultural purposes in South America is approximately twice as much as the proportion of the northern part of this continent (71% compared to 39%). Meanwhile, more than 80% of the water is used for the same practices in Africa, Central Asia and SouthEast Asia accounting for 84%, 88% and 81%, respectively.

Industry consumes about half of the water in Europe and North America, while it uses only 12% of the weather in Southeast Asia, 10% in South America, 7% in Africa and 5% in Central Asia. Domestic use, however; is responsible for using less than one-fifth of the total amount of water in all regions, using 7% of the water in South East and Central Asia, 9% of 8 in Africa, 13%, 15% and 19% in North America, Europe and South America, respectively.
