It is clear that there was an increase in the figure of internet users in these countries during the period given, but while USA and Canada witnessed fast growth in the rates of internet account, in Mexico it rose more slowly. And overall, the percentage of people who used the internet in the USA and Canada was higher than in Mexico from 1999 to 2009.
In 1999, the proportion of people connecting to the internet in each country was under 20%. These figures were about 20%, 10% and 5% in the USA, Canada and Mexico respectively. In 2005, in both the USA and Canada amount of internet user reached to about 70% of population, while the figure for Mexico was just under 30%.
By the last year of the research period, the rate of people using the internet was highest in Canada and lowest in Mexico. Nearly 100% of people in Canada accessed the internet, compared to around 80% of Americans and only 40% Mexicans.
