The given bar chart illustrates how many honey-bee colonies and how much honey production in the US in five years: 1970,1980,1990,2000 and 2010.
Between 1970 and 1980, the number of honey- bee colonies rose slightly from 4 millions to about 4.2 millions. However, the amount of honey production fell rapidly by 20000 tonnes. In 1970, the amount of honey production was highest in that year and in 1980 the number of honey-bee colonies reached a peak.
Over the period 20 years, starting from 1990, a dramatic degree was seen in the number of honey-bee colonies from 3.5 millions to about 1.8 millions honey, falling to 1.7 millions. Similarly, the amount of honey production fell rapidly by 50000 tonnes, about 1,7 times compared to 1990. In 2010, both hit a low turn in at 1.8 millions and 70000 tonnes honey.
Overall, it can be seen that both the number of honey- bee colonies and the amount of honey production saw a downward trend over the period shown. Moreover, both were seen lowest in 2010.
